Letter
Letter is a written from of speech directed to one person or group of people. Depending on recipient (ie. person, to which letter is described) or life situation of a sender, list may take a various forms. It can have a business, official, private and even very personal nature.
Private lists may gain any form. However, if a letter must have a more formal tone, you should keep a few rules in mind described below.
Tips
- You must use a standard paper format, which is A4;
- Sender address (the one, who wrote the letter) must be put on the right side on the beginning of a letter;
- Letter should include a writing date. It’s put directly below sender address;
- On the left side below, you put an information about recipient (the one, we write to);
- List header should be closed with a comma (like “Dear Sir,”);
- List should be well written. In case of letters written on a computer, with use of 10-12 points font in size;
- At the end of a letter, below signature, you can add a postscriptum, which is an extra thought, which came to mind of a sender after writing a letter or some extra information. Notation used in this case is “PS.” Or “PS:”, after which sentence is included.
Scheme of private letter
Although, there are no specific rules regarding writing a private letters, in composition of every letter generally should be included:
- Sender address;
- Date;
- Salutation which stars a letter, like “Dear Dad”;
- Admission;
- Core message of a letter;
- Ending;
- Salutation like: “Love”;
- Handwritten signature.
Scheme of formal letter
- Header of company sending a letter (sender);
- Reference number;
- Date;
- Recipient details;
- Salutation starting a letter like, for example: “Dear Sir”;
- Letter topic;
- Admission, describing a reason for writing this letter;
- Core message of a letter;
- Ending – summation;
- Salutation, like “Sincerely”;
- Name and surname, handwritten signature, job position name;
- Attachments (if included).
