Space and Science Festival on the Weekend in Wrocław

The Science and Engineering Solution to the Global Crisis – this is the slogan of the open popular science conference, workshops, and science picnic scheduled for October 21st and 22nd in Wrocław. The World Space Week Wrocław event is organized by the WroSpace association, a laureate of the Science Popularizer competition.

This marks the seventh edition of the popular science and educational event, aligned with the global initiative, World Space Week. The organizers aim to showcase the scientific and technological achievements of Poles to inspire young people to pursue careers in the fields of science and engineering, particularly as future professionals in the rapidly developing Polish space sector.

The open area will feature exhibits from institutions, student groups, educators, scientific and popular science publishers, workshop companies, and educational non-governmental organizations. Here, children and their parents can explore the mysteries of science, conduct experiments, and tinker. During the sessions, young people will create various prototypes, experiments, and scientific projects.

Participants in lectures and panel discussions will have the opportunity to learn more about space technologies, digital security principles, environmental protection and ecology, and improve their engineering skills. Experts will explain how technology can address various global issues. They will address topics related to technology optimization and the pace of development concerning environmental protection, energy crises, economics, and human resources.

The conference program includes time for interactions with the audience. “We will return to our previous formula of hosting special guests – a time reserved exclusively for informal conversations with the participants,” emphasized the WroSpace association in their statement. Among the invited guests are Szymon Szczęśniak, Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna, Prof. Piotr Orleański, Prof. Hanna Rothkaehl, Dr. Aleksandra Wrońska, Prof. Leszek Błaszkiewicz, Prof. Przemysław Kazienko, Wiktor Niedzicki, and Paweł Pacek.

World Space Week Wrocław is co-organized by the Empiria i Nauka Foundation, the Polish Space Agency, the Center for Space Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the National Institute of Freedom – Centre for Scientific Research and Innovation, the Copernicus Science Centre, ESERO POLAND, the Industrial Development Agency, ESA BIC Poland, Legnica Special Economic Zone, Wrocław Municipality, and WCRS Planetarium Venus. The event enjoys honorary patronage from the European Space Agency, the Minister of Education and Science, the Ministry of Development and Technology, Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and the Mayor of Wrocław.

The popular science conference with the participation of experts and ambassadors of space science and technology, along with the science picnic and workshops, will be held on-site on October 21st and 22nd at Concordia Design in Wrocław, located at 7 Wyspa Słodowa Street. The conference will also be broadcast online. Participation is free, but prior registration is required via the website. (PAP)
